Solid Hardwood
One piece of wood in thickness. It is available in many different types of wood, colours and patterns. It is also available in two types of finishes; Pre-finished and Unfinished.
The majority of solid wood flooring requires to be nailed down by hand or with a nailing machine and would need a wooden subfloor, preferably 18 mm WPB ply. Solid wood blocks 20 mm can be glued down to a variety of sub floors.
Solid Hardwood Pre-Finished Flooring
A range of solid hardwood flooring sanded and finished in the factory, allowing easy installation. It requires no sanding or finishing and can be walked upon on the day that this floor is fitted.
Solid Hardwood Unfinished
There is a wide range of solid hardwood floors available, these boards must be sanded and sealed, once fitted. The benefit of choosing an unfinished floor over a pre-finished floor is that it gives you the option of choosing the finish, ie. staining, oils, wax, lacquers. These boards are available with square edges or micro bevelled edges.
